On any day when you can't find Tom in his studio, the most probable place to find him is in the garden. He loves clay and he loves dirt and growing things. A couple of years ago he had a ton of red clay delivered and these little people, mostly theatrical sorts, started to hold court outside in the yard with him. An accasional few, drifted into the house.
The troupe was high-fired so they fare perfectly well outdoors. We gave some of them color and a few even had a metal patina applied which makes them appear to be bronze. I did rant a bit about the wisfdom of making this big, heavy work as opposed to something kinder on our backs... Fortunately, he didn't heed my warnings, we survived getting them into the kilns and now we have all of these wonderful guests. Please, enjoy.
